About Lawson Racing

History of Lawson Racing

Lawson Racing has been around since 1957. It was started by Jerry Lawson. He was active in the club since it started in 1952, but didn't start driving till 1957. He began his racing career at the Nodak Speedway driving coupes, then sprint cars. He got out of racing by the mid 1970's, but is still active at Nodak. Kevin then started his career in the 1980, along with his brother, Lindsay. Kevin has raced in the bombers, then super stocks, then he moved onto late models, then into Dakota modifieds, and then into the IMCA modified division.  In 2004, Kevin got to fulfill his ultimate racing goal as he was able to race a sprint car in several shows. I, Dusty, started racing in the bombers in the 2000 season.  In 2007, I realized my ultimate goal of becoming a sprint car driver.  That meant that for the first time ever I was able to race against my dad.  In 2012, we look to continue the fun of racing sprint cars around North Dakota.
